The NXL ( National Xball League ) Mid Atlantic Major was held in Royersford , Pennsylvania , just outside of Philly the weekend of June 17-19 . This was the second of four “ Major ” events for the 2022 season , which also includes two “ Open ” events ( Dallas , Sacramento ). In all , 259 teams spread across 15 divisions came from virtually every state in the US and beyond to play the Mid Atlantic Major .
Unlike places like Chicago , Kissimmee , Los Angeles and Dallas , where tournament paintball history is rich and thick , major pro / am paintball events in the Philadelphia area are relatively new . In the game ’ s history you can count the major paintball tournaments on one hand that have been held in the Philly area . It ’ s good to see the league hosting events in a variety of locations . That said , the 2022 Mid Atlantic Major was held on the same piece of property as last year ’ s event — although you may not have recognized it if you ’ ve been to both .
Last year games were played on cornfields — dusty , uneven and grassless . For this year ’ s event , the games were played on level , flat , green grass fields . And although the temps on Friday were nearing 100 degrees ( and sunny ), the weekend cooled down into the 60s and 70s with a nice breeze .
