Paintball Sports New York is also the site of the original World Cup before it became a stop on the NPPL tour and was eventually moved to Kissimmee , Florida . Over the years many legendary games and events were held here including the infamous event where the Ironmen and Aftershock threw games in the finals in a failed attempt to keep the UK Predators from finishing in second place . It ’ s also the place where teams like the UK ’ s Eagles with the Farmer brothers played their biggest events and the site where the All Americans , Aftershock and Ironmen played some epic games against each other 30 years ago .
Those that attended the WCPL New York Cup were treated getting to meet and watch the UK Predators and their leader Marcus Davis . It was the Predators first tournament in the US since the mid-1990s and they were happy to be back . “ We were humbled to be treated with such respect by everyone . We felt we were treated fairly on the field as well . We ’ ll be back next year for sure and maybe other European teams will come over as well ,” Marcus Davis told me . Another treat for many was getting to meet The Band — a team made up of legendary paintball players and industry members that have recently come back into the game , or have been laying low for some time . Fred Schultz , Bud Orr , Tim Schloss , Paintball Dave , Charles “ Happy ” Holton and a handful of other notables were playing and hanging around the staging areas , meeting and greeting the players .
And there was the Valkyries , a new , allfemale team making their national debut . How great is it that we now have the WNXL , the all-female Pro paintball league , as well as the Valkyries and several all-female teams playing in the woods . Rumor has it there ’ s an all-female team in the works that will be a sister team to The Band . And then there was NYPD Finest , a team made up of mostly police officers ; and Lockout , All Americans , Annihilators and Ground Zero — all pro teams from the 90s that have reinvented themselves for the classic paintball circuit .
