The WCPL New York Classic was a throwback to 1990s tournament paintball if ever there was one . It was a paintball renaissance festival , right down to the hand-written scoreboard , radio zone judging , unevenly balanced fields , side of the road parking and changing formats on the fly . But guess what ? It was fun ! Really fun !
The World Classic Paintball League ( WCPL ) is a five-event per season league run by Jerry Braun , Kevin Donaldson , Marcus Davis , Tim Schloss , Fred Schultz , Rick “ Rico ” Fernandez and others . The WCPL doesn ’ t pretend to be the biggest , most tech savvy or competitive classic league in the land , but it does promise a minimum of eight games , it promises fun and it promises fairness .
Most that attended would agree the New York Classic delivered on those promises . For those hoping to follow the event online , the only updates were done by players and their shots of the scoreboard .
