In Season 3, a mysterious organization steeped in the occult deemed the Artifact“ sacred”. Bent on preventing the weaponization of their sacramental device, they raided a convoy and seized the Artifact while it was in transit back to Site 38. The Collapse 3 was the battle in which the global community fought to retrieve it. The global conglomerate army won the fight, obliterating the so-called humanitarian efforts to save the world, and then sent the device into orbit.
Despite the global protest against it, the United States then proceeded with plans to use its power as a weapon, and tested it in combat during the Gulf War.
Season 4 of the Collapse started with the rest of the world angry that the U. S. had deployed this crazy weapon and was holding sole control over the device. Political outcry from the global community led to the ejection of the cowboy nation from the United Nations, the subsequent collapse of NATO, and a war for global dominance between the U. S. and a new European Union. At the conclusion of the game, locked in a highly-contentious battle, the players from Team U. S. opted to activate the fictitious satellite, host to the orbital Artifact, which effectively blew up the entire world.
Now in Season 5, the Collapse finally found itself in a world that had, in fact, collapsed. This offered a blank canvas for Cypher to script upon, and they opted to keep it relatively grounded. This chapter was about classic power struggles in a world rebuilding. With that post-Apocalyptic backdrop, players had the opportunity to play out a simulated dystopian fantasy.
The story between Season 4 and this chapter was that what remained of the European Union army formed a survival network, the New Euro Federation( Red Team). They organized where they stood at the end of Season 4, near the Great Lakes in Canada. With an intact leadership structure, support from the Canadian people, and the inability to safely cross the Atlantic to return home, they dug in and became a regional power.
On the other hand, survivors and citizens of the fallen United States found themselves fighting for basic resources, and groups banded together to defend against the invaders. The largest of these groups was The Great Lakes Homeguard( Blue Team).
The battle between these two forces would be fought over a doomsday cache of weapons and supplies that was left behind by a hardened prepper. With the Arctic-like summer just setting in and another deadly winter on the horizon, both groups fought to secure the crucial military supply cache that may be the key to survival of“ The Aftermath.”

The Teams

Aside from the evolving plot, this event has established clear rival contingents at this point. With a legacy of leaders from Valor, Viper Squad, Task Force Eagle, Currahee, and The Goats, the blue team is developing a linear history. This year, three-time winner John“ Sandman” Russell of Valor passed the baton to his second-in-command and teammate, Tyler“ Sugar” Gray, who then selected Jesse“ Lamby” Lamberth as his XO.
