The post-COVID era of the National Xball League ( NXL ) paintball has been as vibrant , chaotic and fascinating as it has been intense . For San Diego Dynasty it has been a dream ride . Since the first event post-COVID ( 2020 World Cup ) Dynasty has won six of the nine Open events in the Professional division . And this past season , 2022 , they won three of the four Majors .
Sunshine State Major
The big Pro news in the off-season between 2021 and 2022 was the addition of the Latin Saints and their seemingly unlimited spending spree that brought in players like Kyle Spicka , Alex Goldman , Justin Rabackoff , Corey Hall and a handful of other star players . In the first event of the season , the Sunshine State Major , the Saints reached the Pro finals in their first event ever , where they lost to San Diego Dynasty — but what a promising start for the new Pro team . And then the wheels came off the cart . Word on the street was owner Diego Santos wasn ’ t paying his players the agreed amount and one by one all of the stars left to join other rosters .
But the real story at the Sunshine State Major , the one that would matter the rest of the season , was that San Diego Dynasty now had one back to back to back Pro events in the NXL .
The other story coming out of the first NXL even of the season was the WNXL ( Women ’ s Pro Division ) would be making its official debut here at the Sunshine State Major after its successful demo at the 2021 World Cup . Dallas Vibe would become the first Pro winners in the WNXL , as they beat Destiny in the finals .
Mid Atlantic Major
The second major event of the 2022 season was held just outside of Philly in Royersford , Pennsylvania , the site that almost caused the internet to break in 2021 when an early photo of the site posted on Facebook showed the playing fields were situated in a cornfield . But in the end the fields played out fine in 2021 and even better in 2022 .
