“ In the early 2000s, I was able to play in Blackcat and Wayne Dollack games, but those were more like scenario games,” Bailey said.“ My games were based primarily on the flag and secondarily on missions and then finding props.”
Bailey ' s WW2: Tour of Duty games flew way under the radar nationally but were wellattended and go-to games in Texas, Nebraska, Missouri, Oklahoma, Illinois, and Kansas by the mid-2000s, and they ran through 2013.
He continued,“ At that time( mid-2000s) my Panzer Attack Game at my home field Bailey ' s Battlefield, was the largest in Missouri, having more than 500 players.”
If you don ' t know Bill from his WW2 games, you may remember the name from his writings for Action Pursuit Games Magazine in the early 2000s. Bill also owns the Old School Paintball Gun Museum, which is one of, if not the largest paintball marker and gear collections in the world. He ' s also been a behind the scenes asset and General for DeWayne Convirs ' Oklahoma D-Day event over the years.
And speaking of regional scenario game producers, in 2004, one of the most underrated such producers entered the market, under the name“ Mission Masters.” The brainchild of Dean“ Cuda” Allen, Mission Masters ran the vast majority of their games at Three Rivers Paintball in Cranberry, Pennsylvania, the past home of the International Amateur Open( IAO). Dean actually got his start in 1985 at the field ' s previous location just north of Pittsburgh, originally called Three Rivers Survival Games. Dean ' s passion for scenario paintball was inspired by his childhood, growing up in the 1980s.
“ Growing up in the 80s, I’ ve always been inspired by action movies, sci-fi, video games, and war history. From World War II battles to themes like Alien vs. Predator and Resident Evil-style survival horror, I gravitated toward stories that could translate into memorable scenario events with believable objectives, realistic storylines, and high-impact props,” Cuda said.” The goal behind Mission Masters Paintball was always the same... deliver organized, quality games that fully immerse players in the action-adventure experience they paid for— and by eliminating the common flaws that can pull a scenario game apart.”
