“ The command( at Camp Blanding) was hesitant, due to issues from previous paintball games held on the facility in the 1990s,” Mother said.“ The leading cause of concern was the clean-up of the buildings after those events.” That first MOUT game was produced by Stephen Hipkiss.
To help solve the problem, Pursuit Marketing ' s( PMI) Paul Devane and Jeff Perlmutter, and their paint manufacturer, RP Scherer, worked with MXS to research and develop a paintball specifically for Blanding. This collaboration would change the sport of paintball forever.
In the spring of 2001, RP Scherer introduced a new paintball shell formulation that was much less susceptible to environmental damage from heat and moisture. The“ Camp Blanding ball” was manufactured in a small batch, specifically for their event.
MXS would run a total of five Camp Blanding Mount events between 2001 and 2008.

In 2002, MXS, along with JJ Brookshire and Challenge Park Xtreme, owned and operated by the late Forest Brown, hosted the first William Shatner charity event, dubbed“ SPPLAT Attack.” With 1,200 players in attendance, it was the largest charity event in paintball history. Three teams led by Shatner( Federation), Airgun Design ' s Tom Kaye( Borg), and Chicago radio personality Eric " Mancow " Mueller( Klingons). It was documented by a film crew, made into a documentary produced and directed by Kathy Weiss, and became an instant classic game.
Brookshire recruited Patrick and Diane to assist Shatner throughout the event. They, in turn, recruited the most experienced paintball scenario players available to become Shatner ' s field commanders and special operatives.
