On August 8 , 2023 , a massive wildfire broke out in Hawaii , dramatically affecting the island of Maui . Driven by winds from Hurricane Dora to the South , and fueled by a low-pressure system that kept it unseasonably dry and hot , the fires ripped through the islands and would burn more than 7,000 acres of land . One of the most damaging fires was in Lahaina where Maui Paintball is located . This fire would destroy a large part of the community , including many homes and businesses , and it took nearly a month to extinguish .
The paintball community around the globe banded together to raise funds and to aid , not only in the recovery of the field , but also in supporting the families who were displaced or otherwise financially impacted .
Maui Paintball itself fortunately did not sustain too much fire damage , but did suffer extensive wreckage from the hurricane force winds .
