It is extremely difficult to stay on top of the professional paintball world . And once a team is knocked off its perch , it ’ s even more difficult to climb back to the top . Players get pouched by other teams ; players get tired of losing and quit ; sponsors don ’ t love losing teams either . But Tampa Damage is one of the exceptions going from the mountaintop , to the valley and back . 2008 – 2013 were exceptional seasons for Damage . They won five major events ( PSP events ) in that period and the one season they didn ’ t win an event , they won the season series title . Then the wheels came off the cart . There were health issues , sponsors pulling their deals and players being picked up from other teams and retiring .
But seemingly out of nowhere , after ten years of radio silence , Tampa Damage won the 2023 NXL Philly event . And then somehow took first place again in Chicago , the very next event . How does a team not win an event for a decade then win two straight ? That ’ s exactly what they did and it ’ s good to see them back !
