The host field for the event was Tiki ’ s Paintball , just off Exit 10 on I4 , less than 20 minutes from downtown Tampa . There was plenty of parking and the venue was spotless . For this event there were three fields used : A Hyperball field , a Mounds field and a Hybrid field . Personally , I would have liked to see a woodsball field to level the playing field at least a bit for some of the pro NXL teams and players . At the end of the day no one seemed to care either way and the vibe at the event was relaxed but competitive and it was obvious players were having fun .
The Games
Chicago Aftershock found their groove early . In the preliminary rounds ‘ Shock ran the table seven straight wins , never losing more than six bodies and that happened only one time . ac : Empire won six of their seven first rounds games , their only misstep being a stalemate game versus the Florida Annihilators . KAPP Factory , Image and the Saints also had only one loss in their seven preliminary round games . Ironically , Northwest Rogue went undefeated as well with seven wins in seven games , but their non-hang against KAPP bumped them down to fifth place in the prelim rounds .
In the quarterfinals it was Farside that stole the show . First they knocked off Los Angeles Infamous , winners of the last two ICPL events and then they sent Mutiny packing . Also , in the Pro quarterfinals , the All Americans beat Ground Zero Gold and northwest Rogue to advance .
