Sam McBride - Aldo Perrone ’ s partner in several ventures and ran among the first paintball distribution companies . He and Jeff Permutter coined the name for the magazine ( Paintball Sports ). He goes back to the early and middle 80 ’ s . Sam ( and Gale Gough ) was also a partner in Aerostar Paintball in the late 80s .
Tim McMurray - You may know Tim from his Avenger paintball gun but he was also one of the best known early airsmiths in paintball , modifying many of the top player ’ s tournament markers . Tim was also credited by many as the inventor of the angle feed , as early in the 1980s markers were not gravity fed and did not have hoppers as we know them today . He also designed a plethora of parts and accessories in the 80s and authored many tech articles in the late 1980s for APG Magazine . By the end of the decade ( 80s ) Tim left paintball and currently builds air rifles / pellet guns .
Charlie Nelson - Not only was Charlie Nelson one of the founders of the Nelson Paint Company , he invented the paintball . The Nelson Paint Company has continued to manufacture paintballs through 2010 and beyond .
Mike Newman , Chris Williams - Mike is the founder and owner of Virtue Paintball , the company that was originally know exclusively for their electronic marker upgrade boards . Over the years , and after hiring Chris Williams as the managing director , Virtue ’ s line of products has exploded to include goggles , loaders and dozens of other products . In recent years Virtue has partnered with and / or acquired several other paintball companies , making them one of the game ’ s major players .
Bud Orr - As paintball went from a sport played with pumps to a faster-paced game between players carrying semi-automatic guns , a California manufacturer defined what it meant to play West Coast paintball for a decade by creating a pump paintball gun that cocked itself , automatically , after each shot . His pump , the Sniper , was already an event-winner and widely known for its accuracy and his new Sniper Autococker , later known simply as the Autococker , retained that legendary accuracy while adding semi-automatic speed . Bud is a legend among legends in the game ’ s history .
Glenn Palmer – Since the early days of paintball , Glenn Palmer has been turning out extremely unique , rare paintball guns that continue to be as much works of art as they are pieces of quality equipment . Palmer pioneered early semiautomatic paintball guns . In addition , anyone involved in paintball in the heyday of the Autococker either came across or used multiple Palmer products like the Stabilizer inline regulator or Rock low pressure regulator . Today , Palmer manufactures all sorts of paintball products , from barrels and regulators to a wide array of paintball guns , including pumps like the Pug and Super Stocker and pneumatic semi-autos like the Blazer , Typhoon and double barreled “ Nasty Typhoon .”
