Cheryl : Tell me the story of how you found the sport of paintball .
John : I was born and raised in New York City and lived there until 1989 , working in my family ’ s business . One day , one of my coworkers told me he had seen a news segment with people dressed in camo , shooting balls of paint at each other . He said it looked like one of the coolest things he ’ d ever seen . This was 1983 .
Two years later , I was meeting some friends from Maryland , Pennsylvania , South Jersey and Virginia in the Pocono Mountains for a camping trip . We met on Route 903 in Jim Thorpe and planned to drive to the campgrounds from there . There were around 30 of us in maybe 15-16 cars . I knew the area pretty well , so when we were all gathered and ready to go everyone followed me .
