The crowds would then go wild for an eagerly anticipated match up that revisited a bit of paintball history in the match between Dynasty and Joy Division. Joy settled an old score that dates back nearly 20 years, coming out ahead 7-5 and setting the tone for the remainder of Dynasty’ s season.
Saturday, the Hurricanes showed the discipline and coordination that they are known for against the hot TonTons, but were issued a heartbreak, buzzer-beater 3-2 loss that essentially ended their weekend.
Uprising stood up to Heat with a 5-minute long gridlock and an epic snake battle between Moorhead and Borromeo of Uprising. Borromeo would ultimately win the spar, but didn’ t leave enough time to make the run for buzzer. Time expired and sent the match to overtime.
Alec Holland faced off against a red hot Ronnie Dizon who was vibrating high at this event. It was his day.
As always, the discussion at the bottom end of the Pro division of World Cup is almost as exciting as the top, perhaps bearing heavier implications, and this year was one of the best yet.
The match between Leverage and ac: Diesel ended up being one of the most decisive of the season. Diesel did come out victorious after a long fight, taking the comparatively low-energy match to a 2-1 win. But, by keeping the margin to just one point, Leverage surprised themselves, eliminated Dynasty from Sunday contention, earned their first shot in the Pro playoffs, and changed their fate for seeding going into next season.
