Masters Xball
The Masters Xball Division had only seven teams but the competition was fierce nonetheless. With players like Mike“ Boogie” Bogolub, Dave“ Weez” Cook, Chris Hudson, Mike Paxson, Aaron Tholey, Gerald Garcia and a bunch more names you would know playing for Aftershock, and players like Ryan Podesta and Jeff Munoz and others on the Philippine Titos roster, you may have guessed this might eventually become a battle for first place.
Right from the start of the Masters Xball preliminary rounds you could see this would be a four team race for first place, with Ole Greedy Bastards and Aggression playing well, in addition to the aforementioned Aftershock and Philippine Titos. It was the later that ran the table in the preliminary rounds with four straight wins and only giving up a single point in four games. Aftershock had two shutouts and two draws, while Old Greedy Bastards, Aggression and TCPL Vintage Machine each won two of four games.
In the semifinals Aftershock knocked out Ole Greedy Bastards 3-1 and Philippine Titos took care of Aggression 4-1. In the finals it was Aftershock ' s star-power that took over against a really strong Philippine Titos. Aftershock wins it 3-1.
Open 10 V 10
The Open 10 V 10 was played on what seems like everyone ' s favorite field, the mounds field. A solid 15 teams signed up to play this event, which took place on Saturday. This wasn ' t your typical who ' s who, of classic paintball franchises, with the exception of the UK ' s Mayhem Tigers and Rushers and Team Smoke, Doc ' s Raiders and All Americans— and the division was definitely top heavy with the bulk of the games won by eight of the 15 teams.
From the jump Team Smoke looked great but for one stumble versus APE Guerrillas in their second game, leaving them with seven first-round wins in eight games. Doc ' s Raiders and The Farm won six of their eight prelim games. NXS, Butchers Northwest and Mayhem Tigers each won five of eight.
When all was said and done and the smoke cleared( pun intended), it was NXS that won it all, beating Doc ' s Raiders in the finals. Team Smoke knocked off The Farm to take third place.
Amateur 10 V 10
A whopping 45 teams entered the Amateur 10 V 10, played on the Sup ' Air and HK Army fields, old school PSP style and it was a blast.
Final Justice ran the table, winning all eight of their preliminary round games.
Miami Effect, Seattle Cartel, Hydra Mentality and Cunning Stunts each won seven of eight. MB55, Armada Black from Mexico, Just Us, TMNT, Veteran Militia India, Smoke and Chicago Aftershock each won six of eight, while CRBN took five preliminary round games.
In the end and probably not a surprise to anyone, it was Smoke that walked away with the first-place victory after beating MB55 in the finals.
