Coming out of prelims, Shock and New York Wrecking Crew were both setting a tone that would resonate all weekend. Both teams went undefeated, Shocking doing so with more than a 3-point split. Their lower ranking coming into the event would have both of these teams seeded in the Ochos for the playoffs, but they were undaunted.
There, Shock made easy business of the notorious kids from Dallas, Shut Up We’ re Trying, defeating them 3-0. And Wrecking Crew fought a nailbiter against their Keystone State rivals, Pittsburgh Mastodon, coming out of the grueling match ahead 2-1 for their quarterfinals berth. Preferred Mob showed up as the team that everyone expected to see at the beginning of the season, exhibiting field dominance over a disciplined KC Missouri Allstars. And Nasty put an end
to what turned out to be a lackluster season for TPP Crew after their hot start.
But all of the analytics went by the wayside in the quarterfinals.
P-Mob went on to upset the series favorite Jungle Cats, 4-3. Nasty tossed off the two-seed L. A. Collision, 3-1. Wrecking Crew upset their home field rivals, the New Jersey Jesters, 3-2. And Shock ended the season for the threeseed Distortion. Now, with all of the top teams eliminated, the tournament was anyone’ s to win, and the series title seemed to be up for grabs.
The semifinals were both statement matches. Wrecking Crew came in hot and dominated Nasty 5-1. And P-Mob resorted back to their inconsistent play, falling to Shock, 6-2.
