The prelim competition peaked in the final set on Saturday morning. Femmes Fatale had issued decisive wins to the rest of the competition up to that point, and faced a desperate New Jersey High Rollers line. Despite sitting in third place overall coming into‘ Cup the High Rollers, diminished by a couple of players who were on the IR, needed a win to stay in it. The Femmes committed five penalties in the messy match, the first two of which gave the advantage to the High Rollers 3-1.
Bella Elezaj would take a huge bite out of the D-side in the next point, making it appear that the Rollers would close out the match, but both of the players occupying the snake were unable to capitalize on the field advantage and left her hanging on her own outside side in a 3-on-1 that she couldn’ t overcome. The Femmes would work the clock in the next point, establishing positions and running the clock down to under a minute as they tied up the match, and yet another controversial penalty for coaching from the pits would take the match into overtime where the Femmes ultimately eked out a 4-3 overtime win to remain undefeated heading into Sunday.
On the other side of the set, Dallas Vibe and their rival Heroines squared off. Heroines had looked nearly flawless going into this matchup, pocketing a pair of 5-0 wins over Ohana and the Angels respectively, and putting the Northern Lights away 3-2 with their second-string players. Vibe had also run the table at this point. Now facing their rivals, the tension was high. In the first point, Hadley Korsmann of Vibe would draw a gross major penalty that gave the advantage to Heroines, and the match looked pretty much decided.
