The evolving plot of The Collapse series to date goes something like this :
In the Cold War era , humanity was caught between technological transcendence and utter self-destruction . Site 38 stood as a beacon of hope and horror . Prior to the “ incident ” at this “ clandestine facility ” it was rumored to house an artifact capable of altering the course of human history . Who controls this device would determine the fate of the world . ( The first Collapse )
The United States would win the battle over the Artifact , and decided that its benefits outweighed its potential for catastrophe . So , they attempted to weaponize it . ( The Collapse 2 ) And then it was stolen .
If the U . S . couldn ’ t control the device , they were determined to destroy it . That plan was aborted at the last possible second when the CIA recovered the artifact from the THULE Society during their attack on Site 38 . ( The Collapse 3 )
Headed into the fourth chapter , the producers , a partnership between Cypher Scenario Consulting , Steve “ Frosty ” Solo , and Solstice Law , decided to step out of fantasy writing and to play with history a bit .
In this chapter , the weapon was sent into orbit and tested in combat during the Gulf War . This act unleashed a new age of warfare , and set the United States on a course to becoming the sole global superpower . The Europeans didn ’ t like that much .
The U . S . then really angered the world when they used the weapon again , this time against al-Qaeda . Charges of war crimes would be brought against the U . S . and the country would be ejected from the United Nations . NATO would be dissolved and a new European Union would rise from its ashes . Now set in the mid-1990s , the Collapse 4 would be a fight for global dominance as the US fights a global coalition led by the EU .
Team United States ( Blue team ) was once again led by John “ Sandman ” Russell of Valor Scenario Paintball and his XO Sabria “ Valkyrie ” Frehulfer of Viper Squad Paintball .
On the other side , the European Union ( Red team ) was headed by the up-andcoming Zach Riley of The Stud Muffins , and his XO Chase “ Traffic ” Morris of Anarchy Scenario Paintball .
Russell was returning to protect his title as the two-time reigning victorious Commander , and Riley was thrust into a tight spot , coming in only a few weeks prior to the event in relief of the originally-named Red Commander who suddenly ceased contact with the production in late-September .
Over the ten months of preparation that this event took to produce , Russell recruited heavily with broad strokes . Riley , on the other hand , took a more targeted approach .
