Rafie said that she was asked to move to the other side of the pits at one point , but that no one really seemed bothered by her .
“ I know the rules , “ Rafie said . And she said she tried to respect them . “ I stop cheering at the ten-second mark , and I wait until after the point approval before I start again .”
She went on to explain that she is conscientious about her cheers as well . “ I don ’ t make comments on anyone ’ s appearance . It ’ s all clean . There is no cursing . I don ’ t even curse in my everyday life , so there certainly wasn ’ t any in my cheers ,” she said .
The flashpoint came when the competition moved on to the Pro Field for Semi-Pro ball where Rafie took up a spot in the stands to cheer on her native homefield favorites , PaintballFit . By this time , Rafie had made up some more Blast Camp specific cheers like :
“ We are from Texas ; We have four wins . You ’ re from Indiana ; You ’ ll lose again .” And ,
Throwing in some crass language , as can be seen in the video , Frey made it clear that he no longer appreciated Rafie ’ s contribution .
Mart , Rafie ’ s boyfriend , happened to be with her at the time and decided he would take a video of his own of Frey recording Rafie . Later that night , with the consent of Shut Up We ’ re Trying , Rafie posted that video on her Instagram account , and that is when things really went wild .
“ I didn ’ t realize until after the fact how big this whole thing had gotten ,” Rafie said . She recounted that at the awards ceremony on Sunday , she was astounded by the reception she received . “ I even had [ a player ] from Dynasty approach me and tell me how much he liked my signs ,” she said .
Whether or not Rafie will return for the next event remains to be determined . But , for this event , one thing can certainly be said : she was effective in adding some much needed life to the spectator section . And she did manage to effectively get inside some heads .
Hopefully , it inspires new life in the stands .
” Listen up Blast Camp ; You must understand , First place is for winners ; That ’ s not your brand .”
Following a match between PaintballFit and Blast Camp , Frey left the pits and approached Rafie who was cheering from the grandstands , phone in hand and video rolling , with a harsh criticism of her volume and an interrogation about her intentions . www . paintball . media
