According to Chris
Rangel , he had retired from the
Marine Corps in 2014 and was busy focusing on other areas of life . But just like every veteran who leaves , the call to service lured him back in .
Rangel is a United States Marine , who retired after 13 years of service . Driven by his passion to give back to members of that same brotherhood . In 2016 , Rangel said he started working with Travis Kerr at the
beginning to build a ground roots network to help other veterans like themselves . Later Dwayne Pearce , Jeff Munoz , Chris Cox , Josh Whann , and countless others joined the ranks to continue the mission . Initially , the concept was to provide an outlet for veterans ; a space where vets could come together in a relaxed environment and reconnect , even if just for a moment . Rangel said it took off like wildfire . The newly formed Veteran Militia hit the circuit hard . Within a year , they had 30 players ( three 10-man teams ) represented at the NXL World Cup 2016 . By 2018 , they had filled out multiple lines throughout the country and outfitted more than 15 teams for the Kissimmee event . Today , Veteran Militia boasts nearly 2,700 members nationwide and internationally , and they are still growing strong .
