The Semiprofessional Division
Eighteen teams entered the Semipro division of the NXL World Cup , with eight teams looking to advance past round one . Annapolis A-Team has been all over the map this season finishing near the bottom of the division once , in the middle of the pack once , second place finish and two third place finishes . Who are they ? A-Team brought their A-game to the preliminary round of the ‘ Cup , winning all four of their games relatively easily . Killers , PaintballFit . com and Royal City Sea Dogs were the only three teams to win three of their four firstround games .
In the quarterfinals Annapolis A-Team keep their roll , sending New Zealand ’ s Manawatu Titans home early , 6-1 . Arsenal knocked off Killers 3-2 . PaintballFit . com beat Chicago Distortion 5-4 and Austin Notorious , leaders in the season rankings , handled business against Royal City
Seadogs 4-2 . PaintballFit . com and Austin Notorious , the top two teams in the division each won their games in the semifinals and advance to play each other in the finals in what would be a rematch of the Sunshine State Open where PaintballFit . com took first place . But this time it was Austin Notorious that would emerge victorious with a 5-3 final-round win and a season series rankings title to boot .
Women ’ s Professional Xball ( WNXL )
Eight teams entered the Professional Women ’ s division at this year ’ s World Cup including two new teams , Shieldmaidens from Spain and Suricatos Paintball Team from Columbia . In the preliminary rounds the Heroines , Femmes Fatale , Destiny and Dallas Vibe each won three of their four games . Destiny would knock out their cross-town Florida rivals Femmes Fatale 5-3 , and the Heroines would end the event for Dallas Vibe in a 3-1 victory .
