“ The sponsors gave us a real pro experience . And having the premier field was really awesome ,” Del Mar said . “ I think , given the circumstances with the storm , the event came off really well . So many people light the torches on a whim . This event , they did a great job getting everything together for everybody .”
Now Cup is over , many of the ladies are taking a fresh look at all of these considerations , and shifting their focus to recruitment and the season to come . For most squads , open tryouts are right around the corner , being held again in January
“ Every season is not promised . It ’ s on us to stay on our game and stay sharp ,” Del Mar said . and for progression in the league as well .
“ Next season and down the line , I think there is a plan for feeder teams with actual D-2 coaching and actual semi-pro coaching ,” she said .
Cook said she sees a bright future ahead as well .
“ The girls have really bonded ,” Cook said of the Diamonds squad . “ Now that we have our first run under our belt , we are more prepared for next year , and we are really looking forward to continuing to grow this sisterhood of badasses .”
Although there is still work to be done , Del Mar sees that there is a solid plan for growth
