Shock’ s performance at CPPS got them back into the race for the season. They offset their lackluster 12th-place finish in Czechia with their silver medal here, and put themselves in a nice position to make a run for the podium overall, chasing only LTF and Dynamite.
The Polish teams both remain at the top of the season rankings. Despite the stinging 5th place finish here, ALA was able to hang on to the second place slot by a narrow 13 points over the French powerhouse, LTF. And with back-to-back golds, Ranger Warsaw is likely uncatchable for the remainder of the field.
Semi Pro
The European Semipro division is absolutely wild this season. If you are of the gambling persuasion, this space may be one to avoid.
The Droogs Frankfurt came in with high expectations after they ran the semipro division in Czechia and took home a gold. But in the UK, they won only one single match all weekend- a nail-biting 4-3 match over the Norwegian upstarts Molde Xtreme, did not make the playoffs, came in an abysmal 18th place in this event, and fell to 9th place overall. And a team with the makings of an underdog story for the season following a fifth place showing at the Czech Cup, MaxGun, was a no-show at CPPS. Meanwhile, Manchester Firm who finished 23rd in a field of 24 in Czechia, walked out of the British Invitational taking first place.
Only Five Star has been consistent thus far, with a pair of silvers that earn them the number one slot in the season ranking. But they had to make a heroic run from a nine-seed out of the Ochos to do it. In the quarterfinals, they faced what would likely be their most important challenge against the red-hot Trash Pandas that are surging behind the energy of the Brothers Pitt- Micky and Nathan Pitt, that is.
The remainder of the quarterfinals saw three out of four ocho survivors drop. Toulouse Purple defeated Ring Warsaw 7-3, Outbreak HBI took out Oslo Prodigy 3-2, and Manchester Firm went to overtime to knock off SL Benfica 5-4.
