The atmosphere was buzzing, not just on the field but off it too. Dye and Planet Eclipse were on-site offering tech support while OGWear brought in the latest apparel. Food and drinks booth made sure no one went hungry or dehydrated.
Singapore’ s Red Dynasty fielded a mixed roster of players from various Singapore teams – friends who have known each other for a decade. One of the teammates, Vincent, couldn’ t make it for the event but kindly sponsored our registration fee. Our youngest, Zakir( Team Lanun, SG) is 25. The rest of us are of the age where we watch our cholesterol or have to remove our glasses to read the game schedule( though some still in denial).
On Sunday, I also had the opportunity to guest with the only all-female team in the 3-Star Division- Aisawan Ladies International. It was a blend of seasoned players and fresh faces including Earn from Thailand, and both KC and Monika from Philippines. Nicha from Thailand also made a guest appearance after a long hiatus. Familiar names included Izza( Malaysia), Fidah( Singapore), Jane( Singapore) and team captain, Deno( Malaysia). We started the prelims shaky but once we found our rhythm, we fought hard to the Finals and earned silver. It was inspiring to see competitive paintball evolve, with more opportunities and inclusive.
