A little historical background .

Role play is at the root of the legendary CPX , and that core mindset has shaped the way that scenario paintball is done for nearly a quarter-century .
The original Challenge Park Xtreme , better known as CPX , opened back in 2000 in Joliette , IL with a goal of being more than just a woodsball field . The brainchild of Forest Brown , the field was intended to be a backdrop for fantasy and role play . Boasting themed fields , paved and lighted parking , a ninety-seat movie theater , a dirt BMX track , skateboarding and inline skating parks , and miles of mountain bike trails , CPX was the center of extreme sports and fantasy combined . You would not find hyperpipe and pallet bunkers at CPX . The fields were designed with the assistance of Disney engineers as theatrical sets where the player ’ s fantasy adventures could be brought to life .
Birthed out of this hotbed of creativity was CPX Events , a scenario production company that would bring the world its first Living Legends . The concept of the game was exactly what the name implies : the opportunity to play paintball alongside living legends of the paintball community . And the concept worked well . Well enough , in fact that CPX was able to take their show on the road with other legends-themed events like the pirate legends of Dreaded , and the fantasy and strategy-based legends of Endless .
The park closed in 2018 , but the event production company under the helm of CPX Sports VP of Sales and Marketing , Paul Dagnino carried on . And according to DJ Honu , he and Dagnino made a gentleman ’ s agreement , that Honu could take the Legends Events on the road and eventually earn a stake in the company .
