The game started with the Resistance formulating a strategic plan to capture a large amount of territory . This strategy was successful in holding Coalition forces back near their insertion points , while allowing for Resistance players to complete vital missions . During this portion of the event , the Coalition was also successful in finding many props and decoding a famous war quote that was hidden throughout the field of play . Mad Frog Paintball supplied a walking tank to aid in the Resistance holding a dominant field position . Later into the event , the blue coalition team formulated a plan to push the opposing resistance players back , near to their insertion point . During this time , coalition forces were able to complete several missions , bringing them back into contention for a victory . As normal game play wound down , teams began to formulate strategies for controlling three slapsticks for final battle . Both sides fought fiercely in attempts to control flag stations that were scored halfway through and at final battle end . Once the smoke and gunfire cleared , the resistance claimed victory to the final battle portion of the event . Once props , missions , and final battle points were tallied , a winner was determined . The final World at War event was ultimately won by Leland White , commander of the Resistance .
