In 2022 , after much dissension , the event relocated to New York at the legendary Paintball Sports Inc . in Newburgh , NY . But when that event became encumbered by mishaps , the Montressors were ready to throw in the towel .
Then , along came Rob Walker with a proposal that would keep the Classic alive .
After having stepped into the position of head referee last year in New York , Walker felt compelled to propose a wild idea to the Montressors : Bring the event to the Midwest . Having worked for more than 30 years with the owner of Fox Paintball and the icon of Air Gun Designs , Tim Glavin , Walker knew that his long-time friend had the experience and the fields that the Montressor ’ s needed , and that the two parties would work well together . He also knew that the Midwest has a large enough player base that it could easily sustain another major national mechanical tournament . If everyone could agree , it was a fertile opportunity .
Upon introduction , the partnership between Tim Glavin and the Montressors worked immediately .
