JJust when we thought the National Xball League ‘ s ( NXL ) U . S . series and its sister European series were beginning to show symmetry , COVID-19 hit . Events were cancelled both in the U . S . and Europe and the future was clearly unclear ( yep I said that ). And slowly but surely the American series normalized , albeit amidst some changes and additions to the schedule and format . As the pandemic has lessened ( don ’ t argue with me ), things in Europe have also begun to normalize and the NXL Europe is working its way back towards a full schedule of events — but not this season .
For this season the league announced three events . Two UA Pro Tour events by invitation , and one multi-division super-event held this coming 15-18 September . For its second event of the 2022 season the NXL Europe ’ s British Invitation EU Pro Tour stop was held at CPPS Paintball in Penkridge , outside of Birmingham — home of the ever-popular and excellently run CPPS Paintball Series .
The Teams
Twenty of the top Pro teams from around Europe were invited to play the British Invitational and 20 showed up . Four teams looked almost unbeatable in the preliminary rounds — Lucky 15s Staffordshire , Breakout Spa . Virst Factory Team and Paris Camp Carnage , each winning their four first-round games .
The Toulouse TonTons , PPArena Pilsen , Gladiatori Unicusando and fan favorites Joy Division each won three preliminary round games . Camp Pendleton Raiders , winners of the German Invitational won two of their four games and made the cut . www . paintball . media
