There was the Neo-Nazi era that nearly killed the event . Fortunately , those guys were pressured out and the swastika symbol was banned by Skirmish altogether . For years , there was hardcore animosity between the German and the Allied teams , but as people and fine wines mature with age , this event has survived the evolutions that made this 20th Anniversary a reality .
Today , you find players , German , Allied , and ( cough , cough ) even the disbanded French , working in cooperation both offfield to use this event as a catalyst for great things in the community . Charity raffles are often held , and gatherings coordinated by players will happen at the main stage in honor of personal achievements . This year saw a Gender Reveal party for Sam “ Bear ” Scott . And players gather annually at the main stage on Friday afternoon in tribute honoring Adam “ The Dubs ” Greene ’ s belated wife Lisa who lost her battle with cancer four years ago . Fuck Cancer .
This year , a tremendous effort was placed on growing paintball through support of the youth . Skirmish held a raffle for the youngsters on the main stage during the award ceremony . But in addition , with the assistance of Steve Solo , the Allied Command staff , and donations from participating vendors , a separate give away was done in honor of Young Guns on Saturday night . Allied Commanders were given cards to distribute to young players who they saw demonstrating exceptional commitment on field , and the cards were exchanged for entry in another raffle with more than $ 2,000 worth of donated merch and prizes .
