Many teams that did not live in the “ golden act of the early 2000 ’ s paintball ” could not understand what Bunkerfest was about . And some teams came back together to play these once glories event . Mondo , the original producer of the event , even jumped on a team . A team called Austin Hypnotiq lined up a D5 and D4 line , and they were led by Professional Player Nico Hyde of Houston Heat . But on the flip side of things like team FRZ was one of the older teams . Some of these players played 2004 / 05 Bunkerfest event under team Fuel and Dahmer . This time around they placed 4th , which is impressive with the faster NXL format compared to NPPL format .
The Rules and Field layout .
In the days of NPPL , we had blind layouts . Teams got to see the layout the Friday before the tournament . This was only one of many ideas that had a throw back to nearly 20 years ago . The “ 50 ” was change to represent classic large 50s that JT would build . This made the “ 50 ” an extremely large area to play . However , with these changes some NXL rules were reiterated or dropped . Dead man walks were reiterated , and even pointing at other players was a NO , NO after being eliminated . This was probably due to quick game turn arounds . However , some of these points did not even last for 30 seconds . Once a player was hit you had to leave the field ASAP . They dropped the chin strap rule , but many players still made sure it was clipped together .
Despite these changes the staff still where on point with calls . And many teams called time to debate the problem , causing the staff to hold down heated issues with some players . They reviewed the “ bad calls ” by said player and took every possible approach at keeping the games moving . Players had to brush that point off and run the next point . The staff had to preform very fluently with rules because players and the live stream was watching . www . paintball . media
