Both the Red Legion and Edmonton Impact continued their solid play into the quarterfinals . Red Legion beat Tampa Bay Damage 7-1 … and Damage is no pushover . Edmonton Impact then had their way with Los Angeles Infamous 6-0 . San Diego Dynasty did their thing , knocking off San Antonio X-Factor 4-3 ( how many times has X-Factor been sent home by a single point the past 10 years ?). Also popping up on the radar again was Chicago Aftershock with a somewhat surprising 4-3 win over the formidable Houston Heat .
Speaking of Chicago Aftershock … this historic franchise is one of the most successful in tournament paintball history , dating back to 1990 . But after a handful of tough seasons , ‘ Shock announced they were leaving the league before the 2019 season . This past off-season the team was sold by owner Renick Miller to its new owner , Todd Adamson , a longtime member of
Aftershock . Adamson hired Pro coach extraordinaire , Todd Martinez , and the team purchased a Pro spot and are playing the NXL for the first time in six years . As expected ‘ Shock limped to a 15th place finish in the first NXL event of the season in Las Vegas . And then the two-Todd magic happened and in just their second NXL event in six seasons , Aftershock finished in 4th place in the league ’ s second event of 2024 in Texas .
And here is Chicago Aftershock in the semifinals in back-to-back events , ready to face the unmovable mountain of a team that San Diego Dynasty is . Dynasty ’ s 24-year Professional record speaks for itself , but if you haven ’ t been paying attention recently , you may have missed the fact that in the past 10 events pre-Texas this season , Dynasty has won seven times . Not too bad , right ? In this event however , Dynasty ran into the new buzzsaw that is Chicago Aftershock . ‘ Shock sent Dynasty packing 5-3 .
