For this event , 277 teams from all across the US and beyond came to compete in 21 divisions ranging from Professional and Semiprofessional to Division Five Novice , the entry point in the league for many teams and players . By comparison , nine years ago the NXL Texas Event drew 177 teams , literally 100 teams less this 2024 Atlantic City . And even if you just go back to the 2018 NXL Atlantic City Open , the league drew 223 teams , a full 50-plus teams less than this season ’ s event . Like I said , this is an unstoppable machine … even the Covid-19 pandemic couldn ’ t slow down the NXL .
The international presence here was huge as well . Teams came from Canada , Mexico , Columbia , Puerto Rico , Republic of Congo ( central Africa ),
Brazil , Iraq and Madagascar . I can only imagine what the World Cup will look like .
The site chosen by the NXL is a familiar one . Bader Field is a former airstrip , with plenty of flat ground to set up the playing fields , as well as parking for such a large group of players and teams , as well as the fairly large trade show . There are amazing views of the casinos , the bay and the Atlantic Ocean .
The NXL introduced a new nonendemic sponsor leading up to the Atlantic City Major — car rental giant , Hertz . Not only did Hertz offer nice discounts to players and teams , with the help of the NXL , they provided VIP parking for Hertz renters .
