Vivienne Monika Teves(@ viviennemonika _) was introduced to paintball by KC.“ I just tried playing it once when I went with KC to a paintball field and never stopped,” she says. That was 2023. She has not looked back since. Monika is now competing internationally, racking up passport stamps and, as her Instagram bio puts it, paintball bruises along the way. She describes herself as“ an avid learner, steady and playful.” Three words that turn out to be entirely accurate once you see her in paintball.
Hafidah Binte Abdul Hamid(@ da _ fid), known as Fidah, boasts an exemplary career in Singapore Prisons. Her paintball story begins on 2 February 2009, when an NCC friend asked her to play a mini competition in Johor Bahru organised by Team Karma.“ Didn’ t know anything but up for the challenge,” she recalls. She finished last. Then she came back. And kept coming back- training with D’ Mercy Kids, joining Xtreme Estrogen, competing at the Johor Paintball Open in 2010. Off the field, she is approachable, warm, and friendly. On the field:“ Just Do It.”
Jane Koh(@ janekoh07)- that is me. I co-founded Red Dynasty Paintball Park in 2007 and have spent the years since gathering teams to compete across Asia. My bio says it best: Adventures. Adrenaline. Awesome. On the field, I play centre back for Red Sevens- Singapore’ s first speedball team, running since 2006. Off it, apparently, I sign people up for things without fully warning them first. I am the one who recruited Fidah, KC, and Monika for this relay. They have since forgiven me. I think.
No team is complete without its unsung hero, and ours came in the form of Sheila(@ sheilastrophics, Singapore), captain of Singapore’ s female paintball team Fempire. Sheila did not race. She did something harder: she showed up for us. She paid twenty dollars for a spectator’ s ticket, walked fifteen thousand steps around the National Stadium, and captured over a hundred photos and videos of us suffering through every station. HYROX has 8 workout stations. Sheila was our Station 9 and arguably the most essential one of all.
