LA Collision, studs of WCPPL have historically attended few events in the NXL series, but have played consistently at a semipro level since 2021. They are set, as of this writing, to play at the Atlantic City Open, and if they continue at the pace they played in Tampa, they have a chance to do very well over the course of the season.
But it was TPP Crew who won the weekend. Last season, they saw Sunday at three out of their five events last season, barely missing out in Windy City. A well-oiled machine out of Puerto Rico, expectations were high for them, but they outperformed expectations and all of the analytics to take the top of podium for event one.
It was a great start for the 2025 season in the Semipros, and if these teams all make consistent appearances, the competition in the Semipro division is going to be exciting to watch.
Divisional Play
If there was ever a statement to the parity and the anything-goes level of competition in Division 2, it was fully expressed by how it started on Friday- with a tied 3-3 match between Wolfpack,
a team that finished 28th, and the newlyformed team, Immortal Effect, who took home the gold.
Needless to say, there is very little beyond luck separating the talented squads in this division for 2025. The Noobies, New Jersey’ s veteran squad returned to D2 this season and took home a silver for the Tampa Open. Making their debut on the national scene, Beefy Boys, a Paintball Fit team, took 4th over established teams over teams like NXS, who finished in the seven spot, and LVL who fell in 8th overall.
Division 3, always a crap shoot as well, saw all of its usual offseason adjustments, and it was the Mid-Atlantic teams who ran the table. New Jersey Filthy would win out there. Maryland’ s brightest from NR Factory made a great showing to take the 2nd spot. Coached by Robert Panarella, NME out of Long Live in New York took home third place.
In Division 4, we learned that more support staff can actually aid in victory. The Gunnerz out of Alabama rolled in with nearly a one-to-one ratio of players to staff members, and although their pit was a packed house, it worked for them, and they took home gold.
