With the landscape changed a bit in the women’ s division, there has been a definitive shift in the competition for the 2025 season.
In the prelims, The Northern Lights would go 2-2 with victories over The Suricatos and Nevermores. Although Baltimore was not able to put together any wins, they did scrap together a pair of points in that matchup, which had to be encouraging for the newly launched team.
And, the Immortal Angels were able to topple the San Francisco Sirens, a team that has been scratching at the door for a Sunday berth since the Atlantic City Open last season, in a heated battle that went into overtime.
So although the established teams have staked their dominance, the growth amongst newer, younger teams seems to be creating exciting competition for that number four spot into the semifinals. That will likely be a recurring theme this season.
But for this event, the drama on the Premier Field was thick on Sunday, no doubt.
The semi finals would see clashes between Dallas Vibe and the upstart New Jersey High Rollers, and powerhouse teams Femmes Fatale and the Heroines.
The New Jersey High Rollers took Dallas Vibe to an overtime nailbiter and eked out a 3-2 win to earn a finals berth. But in the other match in the split, new territory was explored. Vibe took the snake off of break, but overstretched into a penalty that the High Rollers capitalized on for the win.
The Heroines / Femmes matchup evolved into a legitimate rivalry as the two squads played an absolute slugfest of a match. The Heroines took an early lead with aggressive breakouts and their characteristic quick-breakout dominance, but the Femmes would battle back from a three-point deficit to tie the match up at four
