Chavez showed why he is quickly developing a reputation as standout dorito player who can control both tempo and flow. And Cyrus Berringer brought his aggressive style of charisma pushing boundaries and tempers to the limit. They were not unchallenged, to be sure. San Antonio XFactor came of and punched them in the mouth a bit during the prelims as a reminder that respect needs to be paid in the Pro division. But Fit came away from that match with a 3-2 win, and then rolled undefeated into the semifinals.
In the semifinals, they would see a rematch finals battle from World Cup against Impact. This time, Impact came back with a heavyweight, star-studded lineup. Not a single spectator was seated during this match, even in the shaded VIP section, it was as if there were tack on people’ s chairs. The match had the makings of all great paintball: passionate exchanges, disputed penalties, and a blow-for-blow rhythm that makes all pugilistic sports great to watch. But in the end, PBFit toppled the titan yet again, and paintball witnessed the emergence of what very well could be the next great pro rivalry.
On the opposite side of the split deck, the age-old grudge match which is often headlined with the same David vs Goliath narrative as Fit and Impact. The Red Legion, still commonly referred to as the Russians, are reputed to be the hardest trained squad in all of paintball, but Dynasty continues to prove to be that thorn in their side. These two rivals squared up once more in a fast-paced, relentless pounding to one another, and once again, that Dynasty magic showed up with the gift of a 6-5 win granting the Dragon yet another finals berth.
