Uprising has been on the brink of an uprising for two seasons, and that narrative continued beginning with their first match- a last-minute steal from Aftershock- Nate Schrader went off in their match against Infamous pulling a 5-pack followed by a sensational Dorito wrap with a double tap collection of two collars for a buzzer beater victory.
Tampa Bay Damage showed through this event that a two-line strategy is still a thing, and the system can work.
New York Xtreme brand had probably the craziest story of the 2024-25 offseason. Xtreme was relegated after World Cup to the semipro division, but to preserve the integrity of the Xtreme name, the brand( not the organization) was purchased by a conglomerate of ML Kings who would drop their Martin Luther in favor of Xtreme. And they came out hard to defend it.
Another team that saw a rebrand was Baltimore Revo who dropped the Revo
name in favor of an old brand, Arsenal. Besties match up against Ironmen???
Perhaps the most exciting match of the Prelims was between Aftermath and ac: Diesel. With both teams sitting on the bubble for Sunday, ASG decided they were leaving nothing on the field. Diesel was sitting on a 4-2 lead, but Aftermath overcame a low-body count situation and then repeated the play with 38 seconds on the clock to send the match to overtime. Although Aftermath won the match 5-4, ac: Diesel barely edged their way into the Ochos on overall point splits.
In the Ochos, Diesel showed that they can play slow-paced, patient paintball. Once again, digging themselves into some holes losing high-body advantage situations, they still managed to come out victorious with a 3-2 win over the Hurricanes. But in the semifinals, they would fall victim to heavily-disputed penalties and took a heartbreak loss to Impact to end their weekend.
