forced us out of Alamo . When we lost the Alamo , the FOB followed shortly . After that early loss , we spent the rest of the day trying to dig out .
I do love the fact that German players were still out there giving it their all even when the game hadn ’ t gone our way . I ’ ve played paintball for over 15 years . That was some of the worst weather I think I ’ ve ever played in . My hat ’ s off to anyone on both sides who played the game , whether it was for an hour or stuck it out to the end .
Sayers : We had a solid plan going in and most of our teams hit their spots . There was a fair start to the game , which is what we were really asking for . We know we can win on that field if the start is fair , but the weather ruined it .
Why do you come back ?
Elward : After playing the game for as long as I have , I really love getting to see the paintball family . Whether it be German players or Allies , the connection network you can gain from playing this game and the people you ’ ll meet are second to none . Also it ’ s hard to find games on the scale of the Skirmish ( fields ) whether it be a three-story castle on one side of the field , or a full city on the other side . Playing regular scenarios with anywhere from 700 that we see at the two smaller games to 4,000 players at IoN , it ’ s unlike much anything else you ’ ll find out there .
Sayers : It ’ s the Big 3 . Stalingrad was always the kickoff game for the season . IoN is IoN . You went your first time because it is IoN , and it was great . The second time , you went to see more . The third time you want to be more involved and start meeting people . Me and my team kept coming back and became increasingly involved . Now , I don ’ t really have a choice , do I ? ( Laughs ) After eleven years , I ’ ve become invested in the game and the people . Realistically , I show up because of the people . And there is a festival mentality . That ’ s where you meet people and learn about other games and fields , network with other teams and players . www . paintball . media 059
