The Games
Six all-women teams entered the WNXL this off-season . Dallas Vibe , Heroines , Femmes Fatale , Destiny , Cheetahs and Sacramento Diamonds . Much to the surprise of many Dallas Vibe breezed through the preliminary round games with four wins in four games , and only the Femme Fatales made them sweat . The Heroines won their first three games by a combined score of 20-1 and their only loss came at the hands of Dallas Vibe . Destiny also won three of their four games . Surprisingly , the Femme Fatales lost all but one game , as did the Sacramento Diamonds . Cheetahs were blanked in their four prelim games .
In the semifinals Destiny knocked off Heroines in a tough 5-4 game , and after a very slow start , the Femme Fatales gave undefeated Dallas Vibe all they could handle , but also fell short 5-4 . Vibe and Destiny advance to the finals .
The final matchup was probably unexpected by most handicapping the event , but it was a good one . In a back and fourth game Dallas Vibe would secure a 5-3 win , going wire to wire without a single loss all event to become the first ever WNXL winners .
Semipro Division
Of the 23 Semipro teams to enter the Sunshine State Open only two teams , Carolina Crisis and Paintballfit . com won their four prelim games . Hurricanes , CEP , Killers , Austin Notorious and Chicago Distortion each won three .
The ocho finals saw Austin Notorious , Chicago Distortion , CEP and Indianapolis Mutiny advancing . In the quarterfinals Carolina Crisis beat Mutiny 6-4 ; Paintballfit . com had no trouble with CEP , winning 6-2 ; Chicago distortion , new kids to the league took down Killers 4-2 ; and Austin Notorious sent the Hurricanes home early 3-2 .
