What is paintball to you ? This is a serious question . What is it to you ? Does winning and losing matter ? Do you play for fun ? Maybe a little bit of both ? Are you speedball , magfed , woodsball , pump , stock class or mechanical ? Again … what is paintball to you ?
A piece of hate mail got me thinking about this very question the other day . Yes , I said hate mail . For those of you who may not know , I have the Popular Unknown Paintball Podcast that broadcasts live almost every Wednesday night ( Catch it on the Paintball Media Facebook page ). So , when you hang yourself out like that in front of thousands of people , sad to say that not everyone is going to like you . Maybe it is because they are envious . Maybe because they are scared to put in the hard work and stand out for themselves . Maybe it is because … actually … who really cares why … haters gonna hate . I accept that and it truly does not bother me .
Back to the point at hand though … I was asked “ Why do you think you are good enough to have a podcast ? Why should your opinion matter since you haven ’ t won any trophies ?” That is not an exact quote to be honest . I am paraphrasing . The actual quote is not magazine appropriate . Anyway , while I pretty much ignored the message , the question stuck with me . Not in the way it was intended but more of a soul searching kind of way . After all , there are lessons to be learned everywhere in life . The more I think about it , the more I feel kind of sorry for the guy because if winning is all that matters to him , what happens when he can ’ t win
