MAGFED
IN HAWAII
with Jay Murasaki • Words by Alicia Bane
As I am sure we all know by now, the magfed mayhem
is taking paintball by storm. Magfed paintball is a great,
challenging, and less expensive way to play paintball.
Playing magfed limits the paint a player can use forcing
them to play more aggressively and tactically. Instead of
relying on paint, you learn to be more skillful with moving,
positioning, and flanking. As well as challenging, magfed
is also a lot more cost efficient. The less paint you shoot
the more money in your pockets.
I have recently had the pleasure of interviewing Jay
Murasaki about him, his scenario team, and how magfed
has affected their team and the popularity of magfed in
Hawaii. Jay is part of Team Ghost Company the Hawaii
Chapter. Their base of operations is in New Jersey. As
they say, “Team Ghost Company, it takes one to see one”.
It has always been a dream of Jay’s to start a scenario
paintball team, find sponsors, and expose scenario play
on the island. And when he started, he did not expect to
get this far. When he first started working on his dreams
of bringing scenario paintball to Hawaii, it was rough. He
started off with 4 people and no paintball store! Despite
the hardships Jay has had he has managed to go a lot
farther with this dream of his than he ever imagined. He
signed the paper work with Team Ghost Company and it
was final, he is now the chapter lead for their company in
Hawaii.
Despite the good news he got with the team he still has
a problem, where to find players? Jay’s Hawaii chapter
started out with 4 people. They are now up to 6 people
and constantly looking for more recruits. Even though the
team has never been to a tournament (which is kind of
hard when you live on an island with absolutely no scenario
paintball at all) they are still a strong and able team ready
