The NXL Europe held its third event of
the 2019 season near the beautiful city of
Prague, Czech Republic. More than 130
teams from all over the world gathered in
this capital city, the 14th largest city in the
European Union, for another chance to
show the world their best.
The location for the Prague Open was
minutes from center city Prague and just
outside of the Prague Airport Letnany.
Teams and players arriving early or staying
late made their way to center city Prague
to see the famed cathedrals, castles and
other historic sites and to be part of the
bustling nightlife that the city offers.
Like all NXL Europe events the festivities
got underway on Thursday (July 18) with
registration, team practices and the first
round of the UPBF World Championship
(formerly known as the Nations Cup).
The Prague Open featured Xball,
three, five, and seven-man divisions as
well as the aforementioned extremely
popular UPBF World Championship. The
Championship format for this event was
the Men’s division. Currently 40 teams
from 23 countries have already entered
their national representative teams in the
respective categories including Veterans,
Women’s, U19 and U16.
The Games
Coming into the Prague Open Moscow
Red Legion was red hot (pun intended)
with first place wins in each of the two
previous events in Barcelona and Paris/
Chantilly. And in each of those two events
the Golden State Kings placed second,
Edmonton Impact placed third and
Houston Heat finished fourth. So for the
first time ever the top four in the Pro Xball
division were identical in back to back
events. Spoiler alert, this one would end
differently.
