Coming out of the prelims, the Saberwolves were out in front but Rico’s Raiders were right there with them. Ground Zero Gold, Ground Zero and the Master Blasters joined them making the cut, leaving Black Lotus, Ether, the Misfit Militia and GZ Silver behind. The MVP of the event was undoubtedly Julian Maliszewski (yes I had to look it up to be sure I spelled it properly, it’s been a while) of Image and Route 40 Paintball, guesting with Ground Zero Gold. Simply refusing to lose and holding it down from the back even when pressured by multiple guns, often coming out the winner, it was clear he simply hadn’t come to OXCC to get shot with paintballs and while Gold may not have gone on to win the event, Julian definitely ate his Wheaties both Saturday and Sunday morning. Ground Zero battled their way to the second slot on the podium, with Rico’s Raiders in third. While the event wasn’t without its share finger pointing, shouting matches and who-shot-who first, promoter Eric “Big E” Holland of Misfit Toys fame worked tirelessly to provide his customers with the best event he could, even to the point of stepping on the field personally to referee. Amenities like air and paint were convenient, the atmosphere was fun and OXCC was an outstanding host facility as they always are. ith events like the ICPL and World Cup left to play, mechanical tournament paintball continues to be a fun yet intensely competitive way for players of all ages, experience levels, shapes and sizes to fall in love with the game all over again, and the Mid-Atlantic Classic would make Speaking of winning the event, that was a great addition to any serious player’s the Saberwolves again, as they defended calendar! their title and hoisted the gold trophy. www.paintball.media 099
