I spent the afternoon Friday at the ICC
heading from vendor booth to vendor
booth, hat (and credit card) in-hand piecing
together the equipment I’d need to play the
ten-man mechanical event. From pants and
pads to a new pair of JT Proflex goggles, a
headband and a pack, my gear was crispy,
still had square wrinkles from the packaging
and even smelled new – so much so I
considered sneaking into the woods to roll
around in the dirt for a while so as to appear
less of a nerd. Then there was the gun. When
I wandered into the booth occupied by my
friends at NFG, the popular Autococker
gurus, and told them what I’d gotten myself
into, they set the wheels in-motion. Bottle?
They handed me one. Hopper? No problem.
Then Greg Lund did something I’ll forever
appreciate: he handed me his personal gear
bag containing a green acid wash anodized
Inception Ripper Autococker.
