It was 4:28 am and I woke up excited and
almost giddy. I had set my alarm for 4:30
am and my internal clock is strong and
I was immediately wide awake. Good
thing since I had a 2 ½ hour drive in front
of me, so I showered and threw on my
Trails of Doom Splatterpark Jersey and
hit the highway to Mt. Gilead Ohio which
is north of Columbus. Splatterpark is one
of the oldest continuously running fields
in the world as they opened in 1983 on
a huge piece of property with tons of
different fields. The big games (held the
first Sunday in May and October each
year) the entire field is open for play and
huge attendance (typically around 1,000+
players) makes this a must play for any
scenario paintballer. This game brought
players from Indiana, and Ohio including
the 13 Legionnaires led by Djuan Mitchell
who was crushing the field all day long
for the blue team. These guys play as a

team and are very formidable foes and
managed to recruit some of our normal
orange players. Typically the big game
ends up being one sided, but this year it
wasn’t at all. I played for the orange team
along with many of the local Splatterpark
players, #AOAT, Tactical Shenanigans
paintball, and many more teams from
Ohio.
WYRM and I took over leadership for
orange team, and this game was set up
differently than many past big games. We
had different bases that changed during
the day and we needed to capture flags
that would be dropped between the
battle lines and push them through the
opposing teams forces to gain maximum
points. Blue started off right away with a
big push through our team to capture the
first flag objectives gaining their team an
early lead.
