I received all my missions for the rest of
the weekend on this cell phone and was
responsible for the phone’s wellbeing as well
as for charging it. As the weekend progressed
the cell phone became more involved with
missions by having to take pictures of specific
items and being notified of complications
in the current mission through text/call. For
instance, I had a mission where I was to find
a down pilot in the woods, so I snuck into the
woods by myself to retrieve the dummy. This
was vital because the woods were currently
held by blue team. I successfully made it to
the dummy undetected by blue team but
upon grabbing the dummy I was notified
via text that the dummy had sustained
severe injury and the medic would need to
come and heal him for ten minutes. This
was difficult due to the fact the woods were
controlled by blue and our medic was on the
other side of the field. I radioed Djuan and
he threw together a hit squad to escort the
medic to my location where we were able to
hold off the blue forces, revive the dummy,
and get him to safety for maximum points.
I thought having the cell phone was fantastic
for multiple reason, with convenience being
the top reason. It was nice having all the
missions in your pocket and not a handful of
papers that could get sweaty and crumple. I
was able to show my missions referee exactly
what I was sent and what time it was received,
which helped for time sensitive missions. It
was amusing messing with command. I would
take selfies and send gifs throughout the day
for fun. I was able to call command when I
had any questions or felt like something was
unclear, and it was able to be cleared up right
there on the spot. So, all in all, I think the cell
phone idea was fantastic!
