Planet Eclipse Does
it Again…Again
Anyone who’s been around paintball more
than a few minutes and done any kind of
reading of various paintball magazines
probably knows I’ve been reviewing
markers from Eclipse since Egos, Directors
Cut Autocockers, Eclipse Impulses and the
like: in other words, a pretty long time. And
my reviews have, more or less, read about
the same – the gun does exactly what it’s
supposed to do. So when a new GTek
170R showed up I was excited, especially
as I spent a great deal of time with its
predecessor, the 160, with great success. I
wasn’t quite so excited to write the review,
however, because I was pretty sure how it
was going to go, and having put the 170R
through its paces I was absolutely right,
so saddle up because this is going to be
another of those Eclipse reviews where the
gun works great and you should probably
buy one.

The Planet Eclipse paintball marker
lineup is more robust and filled-out
than ever, with something for everyone
from newer players looking for a quality
piece of inexpensive equipment through
mid-level hardcore recreational players,
mechanical competitors and even top-
level tournament professionals. Indeed,
top teams like Edmonton Impact, stacked
with talent and with a pile of trophies on
both sides of the Atlantic to their credit,
shoot Eclipse markers, as do fellow
professional champions and contenders
like San Antonio X-Factor, Baltimore
Revo, Infamous, Scottsdale Elevation,
Sacramento DMG and New York Xtreme.
Placed squarely at the higher end of “mid-
level” at $799 retail, the new GTek 170R
offers top-level performance and a long
list of standard features at a price putting
it within the reach of a much wider cross-
section of the paintball demographic.
