As history tells us Anne Bonny and
Rachel Wall are on the top of a very short
list of notorious female pirates and as
the Buccaneers and Marauders were
to battle, it was the ladies that called
the shots. In the fourth installment of
CPX’s Dreaded Legends Mary Burkhard
and Callista Moseley took the reins and
steered their warriors into the throngs of
war. Two female commanders were not
the only ace up CPX’s sleeve, they also
brought their event to the freshly built
Black Ops Paintball in Myrtle Beach,
SC. Dreaded Legends, a game rich in
Pirate theme had, for the last three years,
been in Punta Gorda, FL, an area that
is no stranger to Pirate lore and Pirate
festivals. A new dawn was approaching
and with the overwhelming success of
Bones and Ashes at Black Ops Paintball
in Fayetteville, NC it seemed fitting to
exercise their other field to the south in
beautiful, sunny Myrtle Beach. A popular

vacation and retirement spot, MB offers
sandy beaches, delectable restaurants
and all the entertainment a person could
want, now to include PAINTBALL! Myrtle
Beach is also affluent in Pirate lore. Many
of you may have heard of the story of
Edward Teach, a.k.a. The Legend of
Blackbeard, a Pirate whose reign of terror
was between 1716 and 1718. The story of
Blackbeard has many tales, with the truth
just out of reach, making a legend that
will never die, a legend worthy of CPX’s
Dreaded Legends.
April 12th kicked off this blockbuster
event in South Carolina as two new
CPX commanders went head-to-
head. Leading the battle at sea for the
Buccaneers (Blue team) as Rachel Wall
was Mary Burkhard of the Grassy Knoll
Gunmen and leading the Marauders as
Anne Bonny was Callista Moseley both
Legends with extensive resumes. Being
