The National Xball League Europe held
its first of four events the last weekend in
March in the beautiful region of Costa Brava,
Barcelona. The 200 km stretch to the north of
Barcelona, known as Costa Brava is as diverse
as it is beautiful. Quaint narrow streets lined
with restaurants and filled with culture and
nightlife are the main draw to the region, but
not for this weekend. It was Europe’s biggest
and best paintball league that pulled players,
teams and vendors from around the world to
the Top Ten Sports Complex for world class
professional paintball competition.
The Top Ten Sports Complex is an easy
to get to 40 minute drive from Barcelona,
Spain. Flat natural surfaces are plentiful at
the complex, making for the perfect grounds
for a paintball tournament. Food, restrooms
and other amenities are on site and hotels,
restaurants and shopping are also close by,
just off of the property.
Setting The Stage
For those that may have missed the news, the
NXL Europe held its first season in 2018 after
taking over for the Millennium Series, which
had been the primary pro/am paintball league
for 19 solid years. With a year of running
professional paintball events in Europe
under its belt, confidence in the league is
high and the number of teams entering is
growing. More than 100 teams participated
in the NXL Europe’s first event of the season
and none more interesting than the Golden
State Knights, an all-star team from America
which included Ryan Greenspan, Marcello
Margott, Archie Montemayor, Kyle Spicka,
Blake Yarber and other bit time players.
