Nashville, the capital city of Tennessee is known
to most simply as “The Music City.” It is home to the
Grand Ole Opry, the Country Music Hall of Fame, scores
of music record labels, clubs, bars and it’s the place where
tens of thousands of musicians flock to each year in hopes
of landing that big record deal or gig. But for those in
the game of paintball, Nashville has a history of its own.
Long time paintball tournament promoter/producer (and
former music producer) Jim Lively held “The Masters”
and “Music City Open” for many years in the 1980s and
90s in Nashville. And in 2016 the National X-Ball League
(NXL) held its third event of the season at Smyrna’s Sharp
Springs Park just a few weeks ago.
Sharp Springs Park offered plenty of parking and more
than enough flat, green grass surfaces to set up the
required playing fields for this event. Nashville’s vendor
row saw the usual NXL names including GI Sportz, Valken,
HK Army, Planet Eclipse, Virtue, DLX, DYE and more. A
steady stream of players/customers kept the vendor area
busy much of the day Saturday and Sunday morning.
Also on-site was the GoSports crew and production truck
bringing live coverage of the main field all weekend
long from Nashville. As always, Matty Marshall and Todd
Martinez hosted the GoSports broadcast (which is also
available in the www.Gosports.com archives).
The weather in Nashville for this weekend was hot,
hot, hot.
