AFTERSHOCK CLASSIC ROSTER: Renick Miller, Mike Bruno, Chris LaSoya, Todd Adamson, Billy Ceranski, Ritchie Maliszewski, Carl Markowski, Danny Tiljack, Demetrius “Meter” Ninios, Gary Noblett, Mike Paxson, Shane Pestana, Allen “Jerk” Mcvey, Mike Mrok By now you probably know the story: Aftershock was formed in 1991 when the Lords of Discipline and Scream, two Midwest powerhouse teams, merged. With the likes of Renick Miller, Danny Love, Gary Noblett, John “Spud” Jackson, Mike Bruno, Todd Adamson, Kenny Klamper, Billy Ceranski, the Mau Mau brothers and Vu Houng, Aftershock was considered one of the “big three” in the mid-1990s (along with the All Americans and Ironmen). Although Aftershock’s claim to fame is that they won more NPPL World Cup tournaments than any other three teams combined (before there was a PSP, the World Cup was an NPPL event), they were a powerhouse no matter where they played. In 1993 they won the Boston Open and World Cup (ten-man) and the International Masters in both the five and ten-man Pro divisions. In 1994 they won the NPPL LA Open and came in second place (behind the Ironmen) in the series rankings. In 1995 Aftershock again won the World Cup and placed second in the NPPL rankings race. With very few exceptions Aftershock won at least one event every season for the NPPL league’s first five years. By the time the NPPL and PSP split in 2002, Chicago Aftershock had won more Pro ten- man NPPL events than any other team. Safe to say that Aftershock was at home playing in 0106 paintball.media magazine the woods and classic paintball. Aftershock has also played in the PSP and NXL over the years and while they certainly were a solid professional team, they never quite reached the levels they were used to in the 1990s. That said, the team recently announced their retirement from the NXL and committed to playing the newly formed ICPL (produced by the NXL). The 2019 ICPL version of Aftershock is a star- studded as ever with Renick Miller, Danny Love, Todd Adamson, Chris LaSoya, and Mike Bruno to name a few. From captain Renick Miller, “These guys are chomping at the bit to get together and get back to work. We have some practices lined up leading to the ICPL event in June but I’d imagine we will practice in some fashion every weekend. For me personally and for most of the players on these teams it is a very exciting time in tournament paintball........again.” Badlandz, home of Aftershock, is building a culture of classic paintball once again with RRDP and Chicago Underground as two of its home teams. Rumor has it that list will be growing soon.
